İngilizcede istek kipi (I suggest he go)
Talep, öneri ve önem bildiren fiil ve ifadelerden sonra resmî İngilizce, fiilin yalın hâlini tüm kişilerde kullanır: -s yok, geçmiş yok. Türkçedeki “-mAsInI” yapısına karşılık gelir (dinlenmesini öneriyorum).

İngiliz İngilizcesinde sık sık should kullanılır: I suggest that he should take a break. Gündelik dilde: I suggest he takes a break.

Sık yapılan hatalar
- ✗ I suggest him to take a break.✓ I suggest that he take a break.Suggest, nesne + to almaz. Türkçedeki “ara vermesini öneririm” yapısı that he take ya da that he should take ile çevrilir.
- ✗ He insisted me to pay for dinner.✓ He insisted that I pay for dinner.Insist nesne + to almaz; that + yalın fiil gelir: he insisted that I pay. Türkçedeki “ödememde ısrar etti” bunu göstermez.
- ✗ The manager suggested that we should to wait.✓ The manager suggested that we should wait.Should kip fiilidir ve ardından to gelmez: we should wait. İngiliz İngilizcesinde bu yapı çok yaygındır.
- ✗ It is essential that he will be on time.✓ It is essential that he be on time.Önem bildiren ifadelerden sonra will kullanılmaz; resmî dilde yalın fiil gelir: that he be on time.
- ✗ I suggest to go by train.✓ I suggest going by train.Suggest’ten sonra to + fiil gelmez; -ing ya da that cümleciği kullanılır: I suggest going by train.
