Preposições de tempo: at, on, in
Pense numa pirâmide: at para pontos exatos, on para dias, in para períodos mais longos. O português usa “em” ou “a” para quase tudo, por isso é preciso escolher bem.
| uso | exemplos | |
|---|---|---|
| at | horas, noite, fim de semana (UK) | at 7 o’clock, at night, at the weekend |
| on | dias e datas | on Monday, on 5 May, on my birthday |
| in | meses, anos, estações, partes do dia | in July, in 2026, in winter, in the morning |
Sem preposição
Com this, next, last, every, today, tomorrow, yesterday: I’ll see you next Monday. Em português se diz “na próxima segunda”, mas em inglês não há preposição.
Exemplos

Erros comuns
- ✗ My birthday is in 12 March.✓ My birthday is on 12 March.O português diz “em 12 de março”, mas para datas o inglês usa on.
- ✗ See you in the next week.✓ See you next week.Com next, last e this não se usa preposição: next week.
- ✗ The class starts in 8 o’clock.✓ The class starts at 8 o’clock.O “às 8 horas” do português corresponde a at para horários.
- ✗ We go to the beach in the weekend.✓ We go to the beach at the weekend.Com weekend o inglês britânico usa at e o americano on, mas nunca in.
- ✗ She arrived in Monday.✓ She arrived on Monday.Os dias da semana levam on: on Monday, ao contrário do “na segunda” do português.
