Nível B2

Phrasal verbs

Um phrasal verb é um verbo + uma palavrinha (up, out, off, on, down…) com um sentido novo: give up = desistir. Estão em toda parte no inglês falado, e o sentido muitas vezes não se adivinha pelo verbo.

  • Com um substantivo, as duas ordens funcionam: fill in the form / fill the form in.
  • Com um pronome, ele vai obrigatoriamente no meio: fill it in (e não *fill in it*).
  • Alguns nunca se separam: look for it, get on with her.
