Adjectives in all cases
Adjectives take the same case as their noun. The endings follow a regular pattern; here is the hard type (новий). Possessive pronouns (мій, наш) and ordinal numbers work the same way.
| masc. / neut. | fem. | plural | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nominative | новий / нове | нова | нові |
| Genitive | нового | нової | нових |
| Dative | новому | новій | новим |
| Accusative | like nom. or gen. | нову | like nom. or gen. |
| Instrumental | новим | новою | новими |
| Locative | (у) новому | (у) новій | (у) нових |
Accusative: living or not
For masculine and plural, the accusative looks like the genitive for people and animals (бачу нового колегу), and like the nominative for things (бачу новий будинок).
