Verbs that change meaning with the mood
Some verbs take the indicative with one meaning and the subjunctive with another. The mood, not the verb, carries the message.

| sentir | perceive: Siento que hace frío. | regret: Siento que estés enfermo. |
| comprender / entender | realise: Comprendí que era tarde. | find reasonable: Comprendo que estés enfadado. |
| suponer | assume: Supongo que vendrá. | imply: Esto supone que trabajemos más. |
| esperar | expect (rare): Espero que llegará. | hope / wait: Espero que llegue. |
| insistir | stress a fact: Insiste en que es inocente. | demand: Insiste en que paguemos. |
