Lo que is a fixed unit and has no accent. English “what” gets an accent only in questions.
  • ✗ Haz el mejor que puedas.✓ Haz lo mejor que puedas.“The best you can” is neuter lo mejor. English “the best” works for things and ideas alike.
  • ✗ Sé la de ayer.✓ Sé lo de ayer.Lo de refers to a situation, not a noun. English “the thing about yesterday” needs a noun.
English “How beautiful it is!” has no equivalent of lo.
