in = всередині простору, on = на поверхні чи лінії, at = у точці або місці, де щось відбувається.

Типові помилки
- ✗ The book is in the table.✓ The book is on the table.Предмет, що лежить на поверхні, позначаємо прийменником on, а не in.
- ✗ There is a poster in the wall.✓ There is a poster on the wall.Предмет на вертикальній поверхні, як стіна, теж позначаємо прийменником on.
- ✗ I live on Kyiv.✓ I live in Kyiv.Перед назвами міст і країн для місця вживаємо in.
- ✗ I’m in the bus.✓ I’m on the bus.Для громадського транспорту, як bus чи train, вживаємо on.
- ✗ Who is at the picture?✓ Who is in the picture?Для зображення, на якому щось намальовано, вживаємо in the picture.
