|---|---|---|
| nesne | I can’t stand his attitude. | His attitude I can’t stand. |
| yüklem | The results were more worrying. | More worrying were the results. |
| yer (devrikle) | A small house stood on the hill. | On the hill stood a small house. |
| as / though ile kabul | Although it was strange, it was true. | Strange as it was, it was true. |
Notlar
- Yer ya da hareket bildiren öğe başa geldiğinde özne ve fiil çoğu zaman yer değiştirir: Into the room walked a tall man.
- Özne zamirse devrik olmaz: Into the room he walked.
- Sıfattan sonra as / though = ne kadar … olsa da: Tired though she was, she kept going.

- ✗ Gone the days of free parking are.✓ Gone are the days of free parking.Gone başa alınınca be öznenin önüne geçer: gone are the days. Türkçedeki serbest sıra bunu göstermez.
- ✗ As tired I am, I will finish it.✓ Tired as I am, I will finish it.“Ne kadar yorgun olsam da” anlamında sıfat başa gelir, ardından as: tired as I am.
