İleri düzey bağlaçlar (whereas, albeit, nevertheless)
Resmî yazı, fikirleri bağlamak için kesin bağlaçlar kullanır. Dilbilgileri farklıdır: bazıları iki cümleciği bağlar, bazıları yeni cümle başlatır, bazılarından sonra isim gelir.

Sık yapılan hatalar
- ✗ The project succeeded, albeit it was late.✓ The project succeeded, albeit late.Albeit bir cümlecik değil, kısa bir ifade alır: albeit late. Türkçedeki “geç de olsa” buna denk gelir.
- ✗ Despite of the rain, the match continued.✓ Despite the rain, the match continued.Despite of almaz: despite the rain. In spite ise of ile kullanılır: in spite of the rain.
- ✗ Although the rain, we went out.✓ Despite the rain, we went out.Although bir cümlecik ister; isimle despite kullanılır: despite the rain. Türkçedeki “yağmura rağmen” isimle kurulur.
- ✗ Nevertheless it was expensive, we bought it.✓ Although it was expensive, we bought it.Nevertheless iki cümleciği bağlamaz, yeni bir cümle başlatır. Bağlamak için although kullanılır.
- ✗ In spite the traffic, we were on time.✓ In spite of the traffic, we were on time.In spite her zaman of ile kullanılır: in spite of the traffic. Despite ise of almaz.
