Nível A2

something, anyone, nobody, everywhere

Essas palavras combinam some / any / no / every com -thing (coisas), -one / -body (pessoas) e -where (lugares): “algo, alguém, ninguém, em todo lugar”.

-thing-one / -body-where
somesomethingsomeonesomewhere
anyanythinganyoneanywhere
nonothingno one / nobodynowhere

some- ou any-?

  • some- em frases afirmativas: I saw someone.
  • any- em negativas e perguntas: I didn’t see anyone. Is anyone here?
  • no- = not + any-: I saw nobody = I didn’t see anybody. O inglês não faz dupla negação como o português (“não vi ninguém”).

Exemplos

  • Someone is at the door.Tem alguém na porta.
  • Do you need anything?Você precisa de alguma coisa?
  • Nobody called.Ninguém ligou.
  • I looked everywhere.Procurei em todo lugar.
  • Is there anything to eat?Tem alguma coisa para comer?

  • ✗ I put my keys in some place and now I can’t find them.✓ I put my keys somewhere and now I can’t find them.O “em algum lugar” do português se diz com uma só palavra: somewhere.
