Sıfırıncı tip koşul cümleleri (if + present, present)

Sıfırıncı tip koşul cümleleri her zaman doğru olanı anlatır: genel gerçekler, kurallar, talimatlar. İki kısım da present simple’dadır.

Anlam değişmeden if yerine when kullanılabilir: When you heat ice, it melts.

Örnekler

• If you don’t water plants, they die.Bitkileri sulamazsan ölürler.
• If you pay by card, there is no fee.Kartla öderseniz ücret alınmaz.
• If you need help, call this number.Yardıma ihtiyacınız olursa bu numarayı arayın.
• When I travel, I always take a book.Seyahat ettiğimde yanıma hep bir kitap alırım.
• If I feel dizzy, I sit down.Başım dönerse otururum.

Sık yapılan hatalar

• ✗ If you will book online, the ticket is cheaper.✓ If you book online, the ticket is cheaper.Genel kurallarda if’ten sonra will gelmez, present simple kullanılır: if you book. Türkçedeki “internetten alırsanız” da geniş zamandır.
• ✗ When I go to work, I always am listening to music.✓ When I go to work, I always listen to music.Her zaman doğru olan bir alışkanlık present simple ile söylenir: I always listen. Türkçedeki “dinliyorum” buraya uymaz.
• ✗ If you mix blue and yellow, you got green.✓ If you mix blue and yellow, you get green.Sıfırıncı tip koşulda iki kısım da present simple’dır: you get green. Geçmiş zaman genel bir gerçeği anlatmaz.
• ✗ If you press this button, the machine start.✓ If you press this button, the machine starts.Sonuç kısmında da he/she/it için -s gerekir: the machine starts. Türkçede fiil kişiye göre bu şekilde değişmez.
• ✗ If it is cold, I am wearing a coat.✓ If it is cold, I wear a coat.Her soğuk günde olan bir şey için present simple kullanılır: I wear a coat. Türkçedeki “giyiyorum” bu anlamda geniş zamana çevrilir.
