Common mistakes

  • ✗ Je vas au bureau.✓ Je vais au bureau. The je form of aller is vais, which has nothing in common with English go.
  • ✗ Il peux venir.✓ Il peut venir.Il takes peut, and peux belongs only to je and tu.
  • ✗ Nous prendons le train.✓ Nous prenons le train. The nous form of prendre drops the d, a change that English take has no equivalent for.
  • ✗ Tu veut un thé ?✓ Tu veux un thé ?Vouloir has the irregular ending -x in the je and tu forms.
