Ступені порівняння прикметників
Короткі прикметники додають -er / -est, довгі вживаються з more / most. Порівнюють за допомогою than (ніж).

Конструкції
- Різні: Lviv is smaller than Kyiv.
- Однакові: as … as: My flat is as big as yours.
- Найвищий ступінь зазвичай з the: the best, the most important (але my best friend).

- The train is faster than the bus.Потяг швидший за автобус.
- This course is more difficult than I thought.Цей курс складніший, ніж я думала.
- It’s the best café in town.Це найкраща кавʼярня в місті.
- My English is not as good as my German.Моя англійська не така добра, як німецька.
- Today is warmer than yesterday.Сьогодні тепліше, ніж учора.
Типові помилки
- ✗ more big✓ biggerКороткі прикметники утворюють порівняння з -er, а не з more.
- ✗ more better✓ betterBetter уже є вищим ступенем від good, тому more перед ним додавати не треба.
- ✗ He is taller then me.✓ He is taller than me.Than вживаємо для порівняння, а then означає «тоді», тому ці слова не можна плутати.
- ✗ She is as tall than me.✓ She is as tall as me.Рівність у порівнянні передаємо конструкцією as … as, а не as … than.
- ✗ The more I study, more I know.✓ The more I study, the more I know.У конструкції the … the артикль потрібен в обох частинах.
