Karışık koşul cümleleri

Karışık koşul cümleleri farklı zamanları birleştirir: geçmişteki bir koşul ile şimdiki bir sonuç, ya da şimdiki bir durum ile geçmişteki bir sonuç.

• If I hadn’t moved here, I wouldn’t know you.Buraya taşınmasaydım seni tanımazdım.
• If she were more careful, she wouldn’t have lost her keys.Daha dikkatli biri olsaydı anahtarlarını kaybetmezdi.
• If we had booked earlier, we would be on the beach now.Daha erken rezervasyon yapsaydık şimdi plajda olurduk.
• If I were taller, I would have joined the basketball team.Daha uzun olsaydım basketbol takımına katılırdım.
• If she had listened to me, she wouldn’t be in trouble now.Beni dinleseydi şimdi başı belada olmazdı.

Sık yapılan hatalar

• ✗ If I didn’t learn English, I wouldn’t have this job.✓ If I hadn’t learned English, I wouldn’t have this job.İngilizceyi öğrenmek geçmişte oldu, bu yüzden koşul past perfect olur: if I hadn’t learned. Sonuç şimdiye aittir: I wouldn’t have.
• ✗ If we had left on time, we would have been there now.✓ If we had left on time, we would be there now.Now şimdiki bir sonucu gösterir, bu yüzden would + fiil kullanılır: we would be. Would have been geçmişteki bir sonuç içindir.
• ✗ If she was more careful, she wouldn’t lose her keys yesterday.✓ If she was more careful, she wouldn’t have lost her keys yesterday.Sonuç geçmişte (yesterday) olduğu için would have + geçmiş ortaç gerekir: wouldn’t have lost.
• ✗ If he had saved money, he won’t be poor now.✓ If he had saved money, he wouldn’t be poor now.Hayalî bir sonuçta will değil would kullanılır: he wouldn’t be. Türkçedeki “şimdi fakir olmazdı” buna denk gelir.
• ✗ If I would have taken the job, I would be rich now.✓ If I had taken the job, I would be rich now.If kısmında would kullanılmaz; geçmiş koşul past perfect ile söylenir: if I had taken.
