Новини та офіційні тексти передають думки без джерела: It is said that… (кажуть, що…), He is believed to… (вважається, що він…). Поширені дієслова: say, believe, think, expect, report, know.

Типові помилки
- ✗ It is said he to be rich.✓ He is said to be rich.Структура пасиву в повідомленні: підмет + is said + to + інфінітив.
- ✗ She is thought have left.✓ She is thought to have left.Після is thought перед have left потрібна частка to.
- ✗ He is said that he is rich.✓ He is said to be rich.Після he is said далі стоїть інфінітив, а that-речення вживаємо лише з it: It is said that he is rich.
- ✗ He is reported to has escaped.✓ He is reported to have escaped.Після to потрібна форма have + третя форма: to have escaped.
- ✗ She is expected winning the race.✓ She is expected to win the race.Після is expected перед дієсловом стоїть to + інфінітив, а не форма на -ing.
