Pontos importantes

  • Uma só forma para todas as pessoas: I worked, she worked, they worked.
  • Palavras de tempo: yesterday, last …, … ago, in 2019, when I was a child.
  • “Há dois anos” se diz two years ago, com ago no fim.

Exemplos

  • I moved to Berlin two years ago.Eu me mudei para Berlim há dois anos.
  • We went to the doctor yesterday.Fomos ao médico ontem.
  • She bought a new laptop last week.Ela comprou um notebook novo semana passada.
  • It was cold, and the trains were late.Estava frio, e os trens estavam atrasados.
  • He studied law in Odesa.Ele estudou direito em Odessa.

Erros comuns

  • ✗ I go to Salvador last year.✓ I went to Salvador last year.Uma ação terminada no passado pede o past simple: go vira went.
  • ✗ We stoped at a café on the way.✓ We stopped at a café on the way.Em verbos curtos terminados em consoante-vogal-consoante, a consoante dobra antes de -ed: stopped; o português não tem regra parecida.
  • ✗ She buyed a new dress.✓ She bought a new dress.buy é irregular: o passado é bought, e não buyed.
  • ✗ They was at the party.✓ They were at the party.Com they, o passado de to be é were; was é para I, he, she e it.
  • ✗ I moved here there are three years.✓ I moved here three years ago.O “há três anos” do português se diz com ago depois do período: three years ago.
