Geçmişte soru ve olumsuz (did)
Past simple’da soru ve olumsuzlar tüm kişilerde did / didn’t kullanır. Ana fiil yalın hâline döner.

- Geçmiş yalnızca bir kez, did üzerinde gösterilir: Did you saw? ✗ → Did you see? ✓
- was / were did kullanmaz: Were you at home? I wasn’t there.

Sık yapılan hatalar
- ✗ You got my email?✓ Did you get my email?Türkçede “E-postamı aldın mı?” sorusu yardımcı fiil gerektirmez, ama İngilizcede geçmişte soru did ile kurulur.
- ✗ I not slept well.✓ I didn’t sleep well.Geçmişte olumsuzluk didn’t ile yapılır ve fiil yalın kalır: I didn’t sleep. Türkçedeki -medim eki tek kelimede çözer.
- ✗ What the teacher said?✓ What did the teacher say?Soru kelimesinden sonra did gelir ve ana fiil yalın hâle döner. Türkçedeki “Öğretmen ne dedi?” sorusu yardımcı fiil kullanmaz.
- ✗ Did you were tired?✓ Were you tired?Was / were did ile kullanılmaz; soruda kendileri başa geçer: were you tired?
- ✗ Did they arrived on time?✓ Did they arrive on time?Geçmiş zaman yalnızca did üzerinde gösterilir; ana fiil -ed almaz: did they arrive.
