Emir kipi talimat, rica ve uyarı için kullanılır. Fiilin yalın hâlidir, öznesizdir ve “sen” ile “siz” için aynıdır.

Sık yapılan hatalar

• ✗ Not open the window!✓ Don’t open the window!Türkçede olumsuz emir -ma ekiyle yapılır (açma). İngilizcede ise fiilin önüne don’t gelir: don’t open.
• ✗ Let’s to go!✓ Let’s go!Let’s’ten sonra fiil yalın hâlde gelir, to eklenmez: let’s go, let’s take a taxi.
• ✗ Be not late!✓ Don’t be late!Olumsuz emirde be de don’t alır: don’t be late. Be not eski ve yanlış bir sıradır.
• ✗ Don’t to worry!✓ Don’t worry!Don’t’tan sonra fiil yalın hâlde gelir; to araya girmez: don’t worry, don’t forget.
• ✗ Let’s don’t go.✓ Let’s not go.Hadi … -mayalım anlamı için let’s not kullanılır: let’s not go. Don’t burada yer almaz.
